Reflections on Black Abstraction

Reflections on Black Abstraction

Ground Up explores the creative expression of Detroit based artists. The exhibition takes place at Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit.

Participating black artists dive deep into the realm of abstraction as a means of storytelling and cultural preservation.

All works on view in ground up are from the collection of artist and and arts patron James Dozier, and speak to over three decades of creativity of Detroit artists.

Some of the participating artists include iconic names such as  Carol Harris, Charles Mcgee, Allie Mcghee, Gilda Snowden and Shirley Woodson.

I would advice making a visit to MOCAD and viewing Reflections on Black Abstraction and several other interesting exhibits going on at the museum.
